The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +72.7% against 2016 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In general, total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +76.6% against 2016 indices. Vietnam (X tons), the United States (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main destinations of cutting blade exports from China, together accounting for 30% of total exports. These countries were followed by Thailand, Indonesia, Germany, Brazil, Pakistan, Turkey, Canada, Malaysia, Russia and Japan, which together accounted for a further 33%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Turkey (with a CAGR of +19.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X), the United States ($X) and India ($X) constituted the largest markets for cutting blade exported from China worldwide, with a combined 29% share of total exports. Vietnam, Japan, Turkey, Thailand, Russia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brazil, Canada and Pakistan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 33%.
Vietnam, with a CAGR of +21.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average cutting blade export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 13% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, cutting blade imports rose sharply to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 12%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Japan (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) were the main suppliers of cutting blade imports to China, with a combined 48% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Austria, Thailand, the United States, Switzerland, Vietnam, South Korea, Italy, Israel, Sweden and India, which together accounted for a further 43%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Thailand (with a CAGR of +59.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Japan ($X) constituted the largest supplier of knives and cutting blades (for machines or for mechanical appliances) to China, comprising 39% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Sweden, with a 7.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Japan amounted to +2.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+3.0% per year) and Sweden (-3.1% per year).
