Magnesite Market Size in China

The Chinese magnesite market rose sharply to $X in 2021, with an increase of 7.9% against the previous year. In general, consumption saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports into China

After two years of decline, purchases abroad of magnesite increased by 307% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 1,377% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, magnesite imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate significant growth. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Russia (X tons) constituted the largest magnesite supplier to China, with a 76% share of total imports. Moreover, magnesite imports from Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Pakistan (X tons), fivefold.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 850% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
