In general, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 31%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, manganites, manganates, molybdates and tungstates exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate a noticeable contraction. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Vietnam (X tons), Thailand (X tons) and Japan (X tons) were the main destinations of manganites, manganates, molybdates and tungstates exports from China, together accounting for 34% of total exports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, Iran, the United States, Bangladesh, Germany, South Korea, Turkey, Poland, Malaysia and Brazil, which together accounted for a further 41%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Germany (with a CAGR of +42.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X), Japan ($X) and the United States ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for manganites, manganates, molybdates and tungstates exported from China worldwide, with a combined 56% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Germany, Vietnam, Thailand, Iran, Malaysia, South Korea, Bangladesh, Turkey, Poland and Brazil, which together accounted for a further 27%.
Germany, with a CAGR of +30.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for manganites, manganates and permanganates, molybdates and tungstates stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 50% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a perceptible decrease. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+7.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into China
Manganites, manganates, molybdates and tungstates imports into China shrank markedly to X tons in 2021, which is down by -18.3% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 226% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2020, and then fell remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, manganites, manganates, molybdates and tungstates imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 292% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Vietnam (X tons), the United States (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main suppliers of manganites, manganates, molybdates and tungstates imports to China, together accounting for 67% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +284.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest manganites, manganates, molybdates and tungstates suppliers to China were the United States ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Vietnam ($X), with a combined 64% share of total imports. The Philippines, South Korea and Japan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 18%.
South Korea, with a CAGR of +442.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for manganites, manganates and permanganates, molybdates and tungstates stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a perceptible curtailment. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
