The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +82.0% against 2012 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank in the following year.

The United States (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and Japan (X tons) were the main destinations of twine, cordage or textile net exports from China, together comprising 25% of total exports. Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Nigeria, the Philippines, Italy, Yemen, Germany, Ghana and Thailand lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 29%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the Philippines (with a CAGR of +26.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into China
Twine, cordage or textile net imports into China shrank remarkably to X tons in 2022, which is down by -48.7% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, imports showed a noticeable setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 29%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, twine, cordage or textile net imports reduced sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 23%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Vietnam (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and Japan (X tons) were the main suppliers of twine, cordage or textile net imports to China, together accounting for 76% of total imports. Malaysia, Germany and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 8.2%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Romania (with a CAGR of +177.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Vietnam ($X), Japan ($X) and South Korea ($X) constituted the largest twine, cordage or textile net suppliers to China, with a combined 44% share of total imports. Germany, Romania and Malaysia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 15%.
Romania, with a CAGR of +126.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a deep contraction. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
