For the fourth consecutive year, the Chinese non-electric industrial furnace market recorded decline in sales value, which decreased by -86.4% to $X in 2022. In general, consumption saw a sharp shrinkage. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the market failed to regain momentum.
Non-Electric Industrial Furnace Production in China
In value terms, non-electric industrial furnace production contracted slightly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, the total production indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production increased by +4.5% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the production volume increased by 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production attained the peak level at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports from China
In 2022, approx. X units of non-electric industrial or laboratory furnaces and ovens were exported from China; picking up by 54% on 2021. Overall, exports posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 84% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, non-electric industrial furnace exports soared to $X in 2022. In general, exports saw a strong expansion. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Indonesia (X units) was the main destination for non-electric industrial furnace exports from China, with a 41% share of total exports. Moreover, non-electric industrial furnace exports to Indonesia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Pakistan (X units), threefold. Nigeria (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Indonesia stood at +50.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Pakistan (+67.5% per year) and Nigeria (+52.6% per year).
In value terms, Indonesia ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for non-electric industrial or laboratory furnaces and ovens exports from China, comprising 24% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with an 8.8% share of total exports. It was followed by Vietnam, with a 7.3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Indonesia amounted to +24.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: India (+8.9% per year) and Vietnam (+14.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average non-electric industrial furnace export price amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -7.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 6%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Nigeria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+28.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into China
For the third year in a row, China recorded decline in overseas purchases of non-electric industrial or laboratory furnaces and ovens, which decreased by -17.2% to X units in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a deep slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-electric industrial furnace imports dropped notably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed a deep slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Germany (X units) constituted the largest non-electric industrial furnace supplier to China, accounting for a 68% share of total imports. Moreover, non-electric industrial furnace imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the UK (X units), sixfold. South Korea (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Germany totaled -11.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the UK (+18.8% per year) and South Korea (-12.7% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X), Italy ($X) and France ($X) were the largest non-electric industrial furnace suppliers to China, with a combined 55% share of total imports. These countries were followed by South Korea, Japan, the UK, Spain and the United States, which together accounted for a further 29%.
Among the main suppliers, Spain, with a CAGR of +46.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average non-electric industrial furnace import price amounted to $X per unit, falling by -3.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 141% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit, and then shrank in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per unit), while the price for Germany ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+59.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
