Hong Kong SAR (X tons) was the main destination for polyacetals exports from China, accounting for a 25% share of total exports. Moreover, polyacetals exports to Hong Kong SAR exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Japan (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Turkey (X tons), with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Hong Kong SAR stood at -14.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Japan (+7.2% per year) and Turkey (+1.0% per year).

Vietnam, the United States, Israel, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Belgium, Taiwan (Chinese), India, Mexico and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 40%.

The United Arab Emirates, with a CAGR of +62.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average polyacetals export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 24% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.8%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 26%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, polyacetals imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

South Korea (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) were the main suppliers of polyacetals imports to China, together accounting for 45% of total imports. Japan, Germany, the United States, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands and Vietnam lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 52%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of +214.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
