In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in the Chinese bed-convertible seat market, when its value decreased by -5.6% to $X. Over the period under review, consumption showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 5.7%. Bed-convertible seat consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, bed-convertible seat imports totaled $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 301%. Imports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Bulgaria (X units), the Netherlands (X units) and Italy (X units) were the main suppliers of bed-convertible seat imports to China, together comprising 54% of total imports. Poland, France, South Korea, Vietnam, Portugal and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 30%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Portugal (with a CAGR of +64.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average bed-convertible seat import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, falling by -9.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 54%. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.
