The Chinese self-propelled bulldozer market shrank slightly to $X in 2021, approximately mirroring the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption recorded a slight reduction. In 2021, after three years of growth, there was decline in overseas shipments of self-propelled bulldozers and excavators, when their volume decreased by -0.9% to X units. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 60%. The exports peaked at X units in 2020, and then contracted modestly in the following year.

In value terms, self-propelled bulldozer exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports showed a slight decrease. The exports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

The United States (X units) was the main destination for self-propelled bulldozer exports from China, with a 34% share of total exports. Moreover, self-propelled bulldozer exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Canada (X units), fourfold. Russia (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 4.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the United States amounted to +16.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Canada (+88.8% per year) and Russia (-3.5% per year).

In value terms, Russia ($X), Kazakhstan ($X) and South Africa ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for self-propelled bulldozer exported from China worldwide, together accounting for 24% of total exports. These countries were followed by Bangladesh, the United States, Ecuador, the Philippines, Malaysia, Uzbekistan, the Netherlands, Canada, Germany and the United Arab Emirates, which together accounted for a further 26%.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Canada, with a CAGR of +88.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average self-propelled bulldozer export price amounted to $X per unit, rising by 59% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced slump. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to the United States ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+27.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into China

In 2021, imports of self-propelled bulldozers and excavators into China fell sharply to X units, which is down by -53.4% on 2020 figures. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 374% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X units in 2020, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, self-propelled bulldozer imports declined to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 344% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, the United States (X units) constituted the largest supplier of self-propelled bulldozer to China, with a 26% share of total imports. Moreover, self-propelled bulldozer imports from the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Hong Kong SAR (X units), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Australia (X units), with a 6.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from the United States totaled +11.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Hong Kong SAR (+17.7% per year) and Australia (+50.3% per year).

In value terms, the United States ($X) constituted the largest supplier of self-propelled bulldozers and excavators to China, comprising 39% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Hong Kong SAR ($X), with a 7.8% share of total imports. It was followed by Australia, with a 6.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from the United States stood at +12.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Hong Kong SAR (+12.1% per year) and Australia (+79.2% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average self-propelled bulldozer import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, with an increase of 106% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible downturn. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the price for the UK ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
