The United States (X units) was the main destination for sleeping bag exports from China, accounting for a 33% share of total exports. From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the United States amounted to +8.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the UK (+2.2% per year) and Japan (+8.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average sleeping bag export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 11% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, sleeping bag export price increased by +13.4% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 49%. Imports into China
In 2021, the amount of sleeping bags imported into China skyrocketed to X units, growing by 24% against the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 76% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, sleeping bag imports dropped modestly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a slight contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 95% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Cambodia (X units) constituted the largest sleeping bag supplier to China, accounting for a 56% share of total imports. Moreover, sleeping bag imports from Cambodia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Myanmar (X units), fivefold. Latvia (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Cambodia amounted to +109.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Myanmar (+343.2% per year) and Latvia (+175.9% per year).
In value terms, the largest sleeping bag suppliers to China were Latvia ($X), Cambodia ($X) and Bangladesh ($X), with a combined 33% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Myanmar, India, Vietnam, Poland and Indonesia, which together accounted for a further 22%.
Myanmar, with a CAGR of +287.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average sleeping bag import price amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -19.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 51%. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Latvia ($X per unit), while the price for Cambodia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Pakistan (+28.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
