Imports into China
In 2022, imports of orange juice (single strength) into China declined notably to X tons, waning by -35.3% on the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 80% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, orange juice (single strength) imports declined dramatically to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 116%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.
Imports by Country
Cyprus (X tons), Spain (X tons) and Greece (X tons) were the main suppliers of orange juice (single strength) imports to China, with a combined 81% share of total imports. Thailand, Brazil, Argentina, Turkey and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 16%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Argentina (with a CAGR of +143.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest orange juice (single strength) suppliers to China were Spain ($X), Cyprus ($X) and Thailand ($X), with a combined 75% share of total imports. Greece, Brazil, Argentina, Turkey and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 20%.
Argentina, with a CAGR of +142.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average orange juice (single strength) import price amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -13.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a pronounced curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 25%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for Cyprus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
