As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Nigeria (X tons) was the main destination for man-made filament fabric exports from China, accounting for a 46% share of total exports. Moreover, man-made filament fabric exports to Nigeria exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Vietnam (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), with a 7.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Nigeria totaled +83.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Vietnam (+21.1% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+12.9% per year).
In value terms, Vietnam ($X), Bangladesh ($X) and Nigeria ($X) constituted the largest markets for man-made filament fabric exported from China worldwide, together accounting for 25% of total exports. Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, Tanzania, Togo, Senegal and Mauritania lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 19%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Mauritania, with a CAGR of +80.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average man-made filament fabric export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 6.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average export price increased by 47% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Mauritania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kazakhstan (+3.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Overall, imports, however, saw a abrupt slump. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country
In 2021, Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of man-made filament fabric to China, accounting for a 45% share of total imports. Moreover, man-made filament fabric imports from Taiwan (Chinese) exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Japan (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by South Korea (X tons), with a 16% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Taiwan (Chinese) amounted to -4.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Japan (-6.6% per year) and South Korea (-10.2% per year).
In value terms, the largest man-made filament fabric suppliers to China were Japan ($X), Taiwan (Chinese) ($X) and South Korea ($X), together accounting for 76% of total imports. These countries were followed by the United States, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and Hong Kong SAR, which together accounted for a further 11%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +6.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
Import Prices by Country
The average man-made filament fabric import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 10% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
