The Chinese man-made filament yarn market reduced remarkably to $X in 2021, with a decrease of -24.8% against the previous year. From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Vietnam totaled +25.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Indonesia (+13.9% per year) and India (-4.5% per year).

In 2021, the average man-made filament yarn export price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 12% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable reduction. Imports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Japan (X tons), Thailand (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main suppliers of man-made filament yarn imports to China, together accounting for 44% of total imports. These countries were followed by Malaysia, Indonesia, South Korea, India, Vietnam, the United States and Germany, which together accounted for a further 14%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Malaysia (with a CAGR of +18.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Japan ($X) constituted the largest supplier of man-made filament yarn to China, comprising 22% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Italy ($X), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by Thailand, with an 8.3% share.
