The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 24% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, adhesive dressings imports fell to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Russia prevails in imports structure, resulting at X tons, which was near 72% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), Azerbaijan (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons), together committing a 20% share of total imports. The following importers - Belarus (X tons), Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Armenia (X tons) - each amounted to a 5.7% share of total imports.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of adhesive dressings or similar articles. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+23.4%), Azerbaijan (+13.3%), Armenia (+12.3%), Kyrgyzstan (+11.4%) and Kazakhstan (+5.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +23.4% from 2012-2021. Belarus experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Uzbekistan (+4.9 p.p.), Azerbaijan (+4.1 p.p.) and Kazakhstan (+2.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Russia saw its share reduced by -14.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
