In 2021, approx. X tons of telephone apparatus were exported in the CIS; growing by 17% against 2020 figures. Total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -10.4% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 43% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, telephone apparatus exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports enjoyed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 60% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Russia prevails in exports structure, amounting to X tons, which was approx. 75% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Belarus (X tons), together making up a 24% share of total exports.
Exports from Russia increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+68.8%) and Belarus (+13.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kyrgyzstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +68.8% from 2012-2021. Kazakhstan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Kyrgyzstan (+7.4 p.p.) and Belarus (+3.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Russia and Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -2.2% and -7.4% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest telephone apparatus supplier in the CIS, comprising 82% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 9.5% share of total exports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 4% share.
In Russia, telephone apparatus exports expanded at an average annual rate of +10.9% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kyrgyzstan (+68.7% per year) and Kazakhstan (-6.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, rising by 19% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.5%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+4.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in CIS
In 2021, supplies from abroad of telephone apparatus increased by 2.6% to X tons, rising for the fifth consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 13%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, telephone apparatus imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +78.4% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 24%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Russia dominates imports structure, amounting to X tons, which was near 80% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), making up a 6.5% share of total imports. The following importers - Uzbekistan (X tons), Belarus (X tons), Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Azerbaijan (X tons) - together made up 11% of total imports.
Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of telephone apparatus. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+8.5%), Kyrgyzstan (+5.7%) and Belarus (+3.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +8.5% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-5.0%) and Azerbaijan (-7.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Russia and Uzbekistan increased by +2.2 and +1.8 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported telephone apparatus in the CIS, comprising 81% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 6.9% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 3.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia amounted to +5.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+2.7% per year) and Uzbekistan (+12.8% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 15% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +5.1%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Azerbaijan (+9.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
