The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 131%. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, air conditioning machine exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports showed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 61% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Russia (X units) was the largest exporter of air conditioning machines, mixing up 58% of total exports. Belarus (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Uzbekistan (X units) and Kazakhstan (X units). All these countries together held approx. 41% share of total exports.

Exports from Russia increased at an average annual rate of +10.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+249.0%), Kazakhstan (+24.4%) and Belarus (+9.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +249.0% from 2012-2021. In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest air conditioning machine supplier in the CIS, comprising 62% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 15% share.

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2021, rising by 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the export price increased by 32%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Kazakhstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+32.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in CIS

Air conditioning machine imports expanded markedly to X units in 2021, increasing by 10% compared with the year before. Total imports indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +117.0% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 37%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, air conditioning machine imports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 24% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Russia prevails in imports structure, amounting to X units, which was approx. 77% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X units), constituting an 8.2% share of total imports. Azerbaijan (X units), Uzbekistan (X units), Tajikistan (X units), Belarus (X units) and Moldova (X units) held a little share of total imports.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of air conditioning machines. At the same time, Azerbaijan (+13.3%), Uzbekistan (+8.5%), Moldova (+7.3%), Tajikistan (+3.1%) and Belarus (+1.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +13.3% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-1.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Uzbekistan (+3.4 p.p.) and Azerbaijan (+2.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Kazakhstan (-2 p.p.) and Russia (-5.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported air conditioning machines in the CIS, comprising 71% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 7.6% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 6.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia totaled -2.8%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (-3.7% per year) and Uzbekistan (+5.8% per year).

In 2021, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 3.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a noticeable decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the import price increased by 22% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2021, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
