Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2010 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.
In value terms, alcohols exports reduced remarkably to $X in 2020. Overall, exports continue to indicate a noticeable decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, exports hit record highs at $X in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Russia dominates alcohols exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2020. It was distantly followed by Azerbaijan (X tons), mixing up a X% share of total exports.
Exports from Russia decreased at an average annual rate of -X% from 2007 to 2020. At the same time, Azerbaijan (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2020. While the share of Azerbaijan (+X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2007-2020, the share of Russia (-X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

Total imports indicated a pronounced increase from 2007 to 2020: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, imports increased by +X% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of X% y-o-y. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then reduced in the following year.
