Russia dominates exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was approx. 97% of total exports in 2022. Belarus (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Russia decreased at an average annual rate of -16.6% from 2012 to 2022. Belarus (-10.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Belarus (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest aluminium tube supplier in the CIS, comprising 98% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 1.3% share of total exports.
In Russia, aluminium tube exports shrank by an average annual rate of -12.5% over the period from 2012-2022.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 17% against the previous year. Export price indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, aluminium tube export price increased by +107.0% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 51%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Belarus totaled $X per ton.

In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of aluminium tubes and pipes, when their volume decreased by -12.5% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 30% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, aluminium tube imports contracted to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Russia was the major importer of aluminium tubes and pipes in the CIS, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was near 69% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), achieving a 25% share of total imports. Uzbekistan (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.
Imports into Russia increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+8.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +8.4% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Belarus (-3.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Russia (+11 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+2.4 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Belarus saw its share reduced by -12.9% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported aluminium tubes and pipes in the CIS, comprising 63% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 25% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia stood at -7.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Belarus (-3.5% per year) and Uzbekistan (+23.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, rising by 3.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the import price increased by 34% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+13.6%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
