In 2022, Russia (X tons) was the key exporter of monoammonium phosphate (MAP) in the CIS, achieving 99% of total export.

In 2022, purchases abroad of monoammonium phosphate (MAP) decreased by -9.2% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 45% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, monoammonium phosphate imports reduced to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Belarus represented the main importer of monoammonium phosphate (MAP) in the CIS, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was near 60% of total imports in 2022. Azerbaijan (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons). All these countries together held near 34% share of total imports. Uzbekistan (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.
Imports into Belarus decreased at an average annual rate of -4.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+73.8%), Azerbaijan (+52.3%) and Kazakhstan (+38.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +73.8% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan increased by +26, +7.2 and +3.6 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, the largest monoammonium phosphate importing markets in the CIS were Belarus ($X), Azerbaijan ($X) and Kazakhstan ($X), together comprising 91% of total imports. Uzbekistan lagged somewhat behind, accounting for a further 5.4%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +81.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, surging by 8.3% against the previous year. Import price indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, monoammonium phosphate import price increased by +86.4% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 72% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+4.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
