In value terms, iron angle exports soared to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 45% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The biggest shipments were from Russia (X tons), together recording 96% of total export.
Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of angles, shapes and sections (of iron or non-alloy steel). The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) also remains the largest iron angle supplier in the CIS.

Iron angle imports shrank dramatically to X tons in 2021, declining by -24.7% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, imports saw a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, iron angle imports rose rapidly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a abrupt descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 53%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Kazakhstan (X tons) and Russia (X tons) represented roughly 66% of total imports in 2021. Belarus (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons). All these countries together took near 22% share of total imports. Azerbaijan (X tons), Tajikistan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Tajikistan (with a CAGR of +10.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest iron angle importing markets in the CIS were Kazakhstan ($X), Russia ($X) and Belarus ($X), together accounting for 81% of total imports. Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 16%.
Tajikistan, with a CAGR of +9.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 49% against the previous year. Import price indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Azerbaijan ($X per ton) and Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Tajikistan ($X per ton) and Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+4.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
