The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 35% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then reduced in the following year.

Total imports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last nine years. Russia represented the key importer of anionic surface-active agents (excluding soap) in the CIS, with the volume of imports finishing at X tons, which was approx. 63% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons), Belarus (X tons) and Azerbaijan (X tons), together achieving a 30% share of total imports. Kazakhstan (X tons) and Armenia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of anionic surface-active agents (excluding soap). At the same time, Uzbekistan (+31.9%), Azerbaijan (+30.8%), Armenia (+27.8%), Kazakhstan (+17.5%) and Belarus (+4.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported anionic surface-active agents (excluding soap) in the CIS, comprising 65% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia was relatively modest. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (+37.2% per year) and Belarus (+5.6% per year).
