Russia prevails in exports structure, recording X tons, which was approx. 89% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), comprising a 7.8% share of total exports. Kazakhstan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Russia increased at an average annual rate of +11.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+47.1%) and Belarus (+4.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kazakhstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +47.1% from 2012-2021. Total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +111.7% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 25%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, antisera imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 68% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Imports by Country

Russia prevails in imports structure, reaching X tons, which was near 82% of total imports in 2021. Belarus (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 7.9% share, followed by Kazakhstan (4.5%). Uzbekistan (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to antisera imports into Russia stood at +3.6%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+26.1%), Belarus (+23.4%) and Kazakhstan (+8.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +26.1% from 2012-2021. While the share of Belarus (+6 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Russia (-10.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia amounted to +7.1%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (+14.1% per year) and Belarus (+11.9% per year).

In 2021, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 33% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.8%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the import price increased by 37%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
