The shipments of the one major exporters of artichokes, namely Belarus, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

Belarus was also the fastest-growing in terms of the artichokes exports, with a CAGR of +21.0% from 2012 to 2022. While the share of Belarus (+97 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In 2022, imports of artichokes in the CIS fell remarkably to X tons, declining by -55.4% against 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 91% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, artichoke imports dropped significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a deep setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 90% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Belarus represented the largest importer of artichokes in the CIS, with the volume of imports accounting for X tons, which was near 70% of total imports in 2022. Russia (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons). All these countries together took near 29% share of total imports.

Belarus was also the fastest-growing in terms of the artichokes imports, with a CAGR of +53.3% from 2012 to 2022. Kazakhstan (-3.9%) and Russia (-25.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Import price indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +8.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the import price increased by 130%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+19.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
