Russia (X tons) remains the largest silversmiths ware producing country in the CIS, comprising approx. X% of total volume. Moreover, silversmiths ware production in Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Uzbekistan (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Armenia (X tons), with a X% share.

In Russia, silversmiths ware production declined by an average annual rate of -X% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining producing countries recorded the following average annual rates of production growth: Uzbekistan (-X% per year) and Armenia (+X% per year).

Silversmiths ware exports surged to X tons in 2021, picking up by X% against the year before. In general, exports, however, saw a deep slump. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, silversmiths ware exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

The shipments of the one major exporters of articles of goldsmiths’ or silversmiths’ wares of silver, namely Russia, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

Russia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the articles of goldsmiths’ or silversmiths’ wares of silver exports, with a CAGR of -X% from 2012 to 2021. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) also remains the largest silversmiths ware supplier in the CIS.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the silversmiths ware export price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -X% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, posted noticeable growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the export price increased by X% year-to-year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Russia.

After two years of decline, overseas purchases of articles of goldsmiths’ or silversmiths’ wares of silver increased by X% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, silversmiths ware imports expanded sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, faced a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Russia (X tons) was the largest importer of articles of goldsmiths’ or silversmiths’ wares of silver, creating X% of total imports. Belarus (X kg) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Azerbaijan (X kg). All these countries together held near X% share of total imports. Kazakhstan (X kg), Moldova (X kg) and Tajikistan (X kg) took a little share of total imports.

Imports into Russia decreased at an average annual rate of -X% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Tajikistan (+X%) and Belarus (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Tajikistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +X% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Moldova (-X%), Kazakhstan (-X%) and Azerbaijan (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Belarus, Moldova and Tajikistan increased by +X, +X and +X percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest silversmiths ware importing markets in the CIS were Russia ($X), Belarus ($X) and Tajikistan ($X), together comprising X% of total imports.

In terms of the main importing countries, Tajikistan, with a CAGR of +X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

The silversmiths ware import price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of X% against the previous year. Import price indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, silversmiths ware import price increased by +X% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Tajikistan ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
