Armenia (X units) and Belarus (X units) took a little share of total exports.

At the same time, Moldova (+106.0%), Armenia (+76.3%), Kazakhstan (+70.2%) and Belarus (+12.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Moldova emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +106.0% from 2012-2022. Moldova (+15 p.p.), Kazakhstan (+10 p.p.) and Armenia (+2.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Russia saw its share reduced by -28.7% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest orthopedic prosthetics supplier in the CIS, comprising 62% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Moldova ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 9.2% share.

In Russia, orthopedic prosthetics exports expanded at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Moldova (+52.0% per year) and Kazakhstan (+61.4% per year).

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, orthopedic prosthetics imports rose to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported artificial parts of the body (excl. artificial teeth and dental fittings and artificial joints) in the CIS, comprising 69% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a 9.7% share of total imports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 7.1% share.

In Russia, orthopedic prosthetics imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Belarus (+1.5% per year) and Kazakhstan (-0.2% per year).
