Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, bacon and ham exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 416%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Belarus prevails in exports structure, amounting to X tons, which was approx. 95% of total exports in 2022. Russia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to bacon and ham exports from Belarus stood at -5.7%. At the same time, Russia (+8.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Russia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +8.6% from 2012-2022. While the share of Russia (+2.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Belarus (-4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 17% against the previous year. Export price indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, bacon and ham export price increased by +82.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 45% against the previous year. In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of bacon, ham and other dried, salted or smoked pig meat, when their volume decreased by -31.7% to X tons. Overall, imports saw a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 94%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, bacon and ham imports declined to $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 97%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Moldova (X tons), Belarus (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons) represented the largest importer of bacon, ham and other dried, salted or smoked pig meat in the CIS, constituting 90% of total import. It was distantly followed by Armenia (X tons), achieving a 7% share of total imports. Azerbaijan (X tons) held a little share of total imports.
