Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while Russia stood at $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+1.2%).

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of base metal motor vehicle locks, when their volume increased by 15% to X tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 29% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, metal vehicle lock imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 38% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Russia prevails in imports structure, finishing at X tons, which was approx. 84% of total imports in 2021. Uzbekistan (X tons) took a 5.8% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Kazakhstan (4.8%). Belarus (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of base metal motor vehicle locks. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+77.8%), Kazakhstan (+16.7%) and Belarus (+16.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +77.8% from 2012-2021. While the share of Uzbekistan (+5.8 p.p.), Kazakhstan (+3.5 p.p.) and Belarus (+2.5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Russia (-12.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported base metal motor vehicle locks in the CIS, comprising 86% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 7.2% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 3% share.

In Russia, metal vehicle lock imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (+75.2% per year) and Belarus (+12.8% per year).
