The CIS bedspread market rose slightly to $X in 2021, picking up by 4.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded a abrupt curtailment. In 2021, exports of bedspreads (excluding eiderdowns) in the CIS skyrocketed to X units, surging by 81% on 2020 figures. In general, exports showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 378%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, bedspread exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports recorded significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 126%. Exports by Country

In 2021, Belarus (X units) represented the largest exporter of bedspreads (excluding eiderdowns), making up 75% of total exports. Russia (X units) took a 13% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Uzbekistan (11%).

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to bedspread exports from Belarus stood at +36.1%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+76.7%) and Russia (+42.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +76.7% from 2012-2021. Belarus (+23 p.p.), Uzbekistan (+11 p.p.) and Russia (+7.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest bedspread supplying countries in the CIS were Belarus ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Russia ($X), together accounting for 99% of total exports.

Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +115.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2021, with an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a noticeable decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 76%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+22.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, the amount of bedspreads (excluding eiderdowns) imported in the CIS skyrocketed to X units, growing by 60% on the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, recorded a noticeable decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 105% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, bedspread imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 101% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Russia was the largest importer of bedspreads (excluding eiderdowns) in the CIS, with the volume of imports recording X units, which was approx. 41% of total imports in 2021. Belarus (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 19% share, followed by Kazakhstan (12%), Azerbaijan (11%) and Moldova (9%). The following importers - Kyrgyzstan (X units) and Armenia (X units) - together made up 5.6% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to bedspread imports into Russia stood at -9.9%. At the same time, Azerbaijan (+38.5%), Belarus (+28.7%), Kazakhstan (+7.0%), Kyrgyzstan (+6.6%) and Moldova (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +38.5% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Armenia (-2.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Moldova and Kyrgyzstan increased by +18, +11, +6.8, +2.6 and +2.2 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported bedspreads (excluding eiderdowns) in the CIS, comprising 47% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 15% share.

In Russia, bedspread imports declined by an average annual rate of -8.1% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belarus (+22.3% per year) and Kazakhstan (+5.6% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 8.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 18%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per unit), while Armenia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
