In 2021, the CIS bismuth market increased by 4.6% to $X, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption faced a deep downturn. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, bismuth imports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Russia was the major importing country with an import of around X tons, which recorded 75% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), mixing up a 24% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to bismuth imports into Russia stood at -9.8%. Belarus (-1.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Belarus increased by +11 percentage points.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported bismuth in the CIS, comprising 83% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 15% share of total imports.
