Belarus was the largest exporter of brassieres, girdles and corsets in the CIS, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was approx. 77% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Russia (X tons), making up a 22% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to brassiere, girdle and corset exports from Belarus stood at -4.1%. At the same time, Russia (+21.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Russia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +21.1% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Russia increased by +19 percentage points.

In value terms, Belarus ($X) remains the largest brassiere, girdle and corset supplier in the CIS, comprising 81% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Russia ($X), with an 18% share of total exports.

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 8.2% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while Russia stood at $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (-2.0%).

Imports in CIS

Brassiere, girdle and corset imports soared to X tons in 2021, picking up by 44% against 2020. Over the period under review, imports saw strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 177%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, brassiere, girdle and corset imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports posted a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 59%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Kazakhstan was the major importer of brassieres, girdles and corsets in the CIS, with the volume of imports finishing at X tons, which was near 55% of total imports in 2021. Kyrgyzstan (X tons) held a 19% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Russia (19%). Azerbaijan (X tons) held a little share of total imports.

Imports into Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of +47.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Azerbaijan (+71.2%) and Kyrgyzstan (+44.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +71.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Russia (-4.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan increased by +50, +17 and +3.2 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, the largest brassiere, girdle and corset importing markets in the CIS were Kazakhstan ($X), Russia ($X) and Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a combined 92% share of total imports.

Among the main importing countries, Kazakhstan, with a CAGR of +42.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, rising by 10% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a pronounced curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 52% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
