In 2021, the CIS brazil nut market decreased by -12% to $X, falling for the fourth year in a row after three years of growth. Overall, consumption, however, enjoyed a slight expansion. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the market remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The countries with the highest volumes of production in 2021 were Kyrgyzstan (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Belarus (X tons), with a combined 92% share of total production.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Russia (with a CAGR of +25.8%), while production for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Exports in CIS
After four years of growth, shipments abroad of brazil nuts decreased by -67.4% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 334%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons, and then dropped markedly in the following year.
In value terms, brazil nut exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, posted a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 350% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
Belarus was the major exporting country with an export of around X tons, which resulted at 81% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Russia (X kg), creating an 18% share of total exports.
Belarus was also the fastest-growing in terms of the brazil nuts exports, with a CAGR of +34.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Russia (+15.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Belarus (+28 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Russia saw its share reduced by -28.4% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, Belarus ($X) remains the largest brazil nut supplier in the CIS, comprising 94% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Russia ($X), with a 5.5% share of total exports.
In Belarus, brazil nut exports expanded at an average annual rate of +39.0% over the period from 2012-2021.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 253% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a strong increase. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while Russia totaled $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+5.6%).

Imports in CIS
For the fourth year in a row, the CIS recorded decline in supplies from abroad of brazil nuts, which decreased by -14.1% to X kg in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 3,171% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, brazil nut imports rose markedly to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 375% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Armenia dominates imports structure, accounting for X kg, which was near 91% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X kg), comprising a 7.2% share of total imports.
Armenia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the brazil nuts imports, with a CAGR of +10.8% from 2012 to 2021. Kazakhstan (-14.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Armenia (+82 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Armenia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported brazil nuts in the CIS, comprising 96% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 2.4% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Armenia totaled +22.9%.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, surging by 30% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate measured growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 343% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Armenia ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan amounted to $X per ton.
