In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest breathing appliances supplier in the CIS, comprising 82% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Moldova ($X), with a 9.4% share of total exports.

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2022, rising by 16% against the previous year. Export price indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, breathing appliances export price increased by +58.2% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the export price increased by 48% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of breathing appliances and gas masks increased by 6.8% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, saw a pronounced decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 48% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, breathing appliances imports fell to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a noticeable reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 51% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Russia (X units) was the major importer of breathing appliances and gas masks, mixing up 43% of total imports. Kazakhstan (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 26% share, followed by Belarus (8.5%), Moldova (8.4%) and Uzbekistan (7.4%). Azerbaijan (X units) and Kyrgyzstan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Moldova (with a CAGR of +27.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 20% share of total imports. It was followed by Azerbaijan, with a 3.6% share.
