In 2021, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas shipments of candles and tapers, when their volume increased by 40% to X tons. Over the period under review, exports showed a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 204% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 33% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a slight increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 110%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, candles and tapers imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +47.6% against 2018 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Russia prevails in imports structure, resulting at X tons, which was approx. 71% of total imports in 2021. Belarus (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Kazakhstan (X tons). All these countries together took near 18% share of total imports. The following importers - Azerbaijan (X tons), Moldova (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons) - each resulted at an 8.9% share of total imports.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of candles and tapers. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+38.7%), Azerbaijan (+17.6%), Belarus (+11.8%), Moldova (+9.4%) and Kazakhstan (+3.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +38.7% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Belarus, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan increased by +5.1, +2.7 and +2.5 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported candles and tapers in the CIS, comprising 73% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with an 8% share.
