In value terms, Russia ($X) also remains the largest carbon brush supplier in the CIS.

Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, carbon brush imports soared to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 30%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Russia represented the key importing country with an import of around X tons, which recorded 46% of total imports. Kazakhstan (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Belarus (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons). All these countries together held near 48% share of total imports. Armenia (X tons) and Azerbaijan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into Russia increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Armenia (+22.3%), Uzbekistan (+9.6%), Kazakhstan (+6.6%) and Azerbaijan (+2.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Armenia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +22.3% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Belarus (-6.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan and Armenia increased by +8.1, +8, +3.3 and +2.3 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported carbon brushes in the CIS, comprising 57% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 22% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia amounted to +1.8%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+6.9% per year) and Belarus (-6.6% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -18.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 15% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Armenia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+0.3%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
