The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, carboxylic acid exports surged to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +91.6% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 51%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Russia dominates exports structure, reaching X tons, which was approx. 94% of total exports in 2021. The following exporters - Kazakhstan (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) - together made up 4.8% of total exports.

Russia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the carboxylic acid with alcohol, phenol, aldehyde or ketone functions exports, with a CAGR of +11.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+11.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Belarus (-6.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Russia (+11 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Belarus (-5.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest carboxylic acid supplier in the CIS, comprising 95% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 2.2% share of total exports.

In Russia, carboxylic acid exports increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+15.5% per year) and Belarus (-7.1% per year).

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +108.1% against 2014 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 24%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the import price increased by 31% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+1.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
