The CIS trailer and semi-trailer market totaled $X in 2022, surging by 7.8% against the previous year. In value terms, trailer and semi-trailer exports reduced rapidly to $X in 2022. In general, exports saw a slight reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 221% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted sharply in the following year.

Exports by Country

Russia prevails in exports structure, amounting to X units, which was near 92% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X units), making up a 5.8% share of total exports.

Russia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the cargo trailers and semi-trailers exports, with a CAGR of +29.0% from 2012 to 2022. Belarus (-10.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Russia increased by +64 percentage points.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest trailer and semi-trailer supplier in the CIS, comprising 70% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 19% share of total exports.

In Russia, trailer and semi-trailer exports expanded at an average annual rate of +9.8% over the period from 2012-2022.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, rising by 20% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a deep downturn. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per unit), while Russia amounted to $X per unit.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (-3.7%).

Imports in CIS

Trailer and semi-trailer imports shrank modestly to X units in 2022, dropping by -2.9% compared with 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 72%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, trailer and semi-trailer imports shrank to $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 111%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Russia (X units), distantly followed by Belarus (X units), Kazakhstan (X units), Moldova (X units), Uzbekistan (X units), Azerbaijan (X units), Tajikistan (X units) and Kyrgyzstan (X units) were the main importers of cargo trailers and semi-trailers, together creating 97% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +58.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported cargo trailers and semi-trailers in the CIS, comprising 52% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with an 11% share.

In Russia, trailer and semi-trailer imports plunged by an average annual rate of -9.3% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Belarus (-1.6% per year) and Kazakhstan (-2.8% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2022, standing approx. at the previous year. Import price indicated slight growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, trailer and semi-trailer import price increased by +24.1% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 29% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit, leveling off in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
