In value terms, cationic surface-active agents (excl. soap) exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, showed prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 75% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Russia dominates exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was near 96% of total exports in 2021. Kyrgyzstan (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.

Exports from Russia increased at an average annual rate of +8.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+13.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kyrgyzstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +13.8% from 2012-2021. Russia (+11 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest cationic surface-active agents (excl. soap) supplier in the CIS, comprising 98% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 1% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia totaled +10.9%.

From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Total imports indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +40.9% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 119% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Russia dominates imports structure, resulting at X tons, which was approx. 78% of total imports in 2021. Belarus (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Kazakhstan (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 16% share of total imports. Uzbekistan (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of cationic surface-active agents (excluding soap). At the same time, Belarus (+9.5%) and Kazakhstan (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +9.5% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Uzbekistan (-1.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Belarus and Uzbekistan increased by +4.4 and +2.2 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported cationic surface-active agents (excluding soap) in the CIS, comprising 84% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 7.3% share of total imports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 4.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia amounted to +3.0%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belarus (+6.0% per year) and Kazakhstan (-1.7% per year).
