Centrifuges Market Size in CIS
The CIS centrifuges market dropped remarkably to $X in 2021, which is down by -57.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption recorded a pronounced curtailment. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.
Centrifuges Production in CIS
In value terms, centrifuges production reduced markedly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, saw a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the production volume increased by 66%. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.

Exports in CIS
In 2021, the amount of centrifuges exported in the CIS skyrocketed to X units, rising by 19% against 2020. In general, exports enjoyed strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 60% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, centrifuges exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 81% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Belarus (X units) was the main exporter of centrifuges, comprising 63% of total exports. Russia (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 31% share, followed by Kyrgyzstan (4.8%).
Belarus was also the fastest-growing in terms of the centrifuges exports, with a CAGR of +28.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Russia (+5.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Kyrgyzstan (-12.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Belarus increased by +48 percentage points.
In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest centrifuges supplier in the CIS, comprising 74% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a 20% share of total exports.
In Russia, centrifuges exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belarus (+9.6% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (-7.9% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2021, picking up by 51% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a abrupt downturn. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kyrgyzstan (+5.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.
Centrifuges Imports
Imports in CIS
In 2021, purchases abroad of centrifuges decreased by -22.3% to X units, falling for the second consecutive year after four years of growth. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a modest increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 71% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, centrifuges imports totaled $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 32%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Russia represented the major importer of centrifuges in the CIS, with the volume of imports resulting at X units, which was approx. 62% of total imports in 2021. Belarus (X units) held an 18% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Kazakhstan (6.4%). The following importers - Azerbaijan (X units), Uzbekistan (X units), Moldova (X units) and Kyrgyzstan (X units) - together made up 13% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to centrifuges imports into Russia stood at +2.5%. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+16.6%) and Belarus (+3.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kyrgyzstan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +16.6% from 2012-2021. Kazakhstan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Azerbaijan (-2.0%), Moldova (-12.5%) and Uzbekistan (-17.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Uzbekistan (+3.8 p.p.), Russia (+3.3 p.p.) and Belarus (+2.4 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Azerbaijan (-1.8 p.p.) and Moldova (-8.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported centrifuges in the CIS, comprising 81% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 7.6% share of total imports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 5.9% share.
In Russia, centrifuges imports shrank by an average annual rate of -3.0% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belarus (-4.5% per year) and Kazakhstan (-2.9% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2021, growing by 30% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 44%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Moldova ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+14.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
