Belarus was the main exporting country with an export of about X tons, which recorded 55% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons) and Russia (X tons), together constituting a 44% share of total exports.

Belarus was also the fastest-growing in terms of the ceramic household articles and toilet articles exports, with a CAGR of +12.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Russia (+11.2%) and Uzbekistan (+2.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. In 2021, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, surging by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+51.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of ceramic household articles and toilet articles was finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Total imports indicated a slight expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 65%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, ceramic household article imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 61%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Russia represented the main importer of ceramic household articles and toilet articles in the CIS, with the volume of imports amounting to X tons, which was approx. 52% of total imports in 2021. Kazakhstan (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Tajikistan (X tons), Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Azerbaijan (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 37% share of total imports. The following importers - Uzbekistan (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) - each reached an 8.1% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to ceramic household article imports into Russia stood at -1.9%. At the same time, Tajikistan (+29.1%), Uzbekistan (+22.9%), Belarus (+15.7%), Kazakhstan (+5.9%) and Azerbaijan (+3.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Tajikistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +29.1% from 2012-2021. Kyrgyzstan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Tajikistan (+8.3 p.p.), Kazakhstan (+5.5 p.p.), Uzbekistan (+4.3 p.p.) and Belarus (+2.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Russia saw its share reduced by -18.1% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X), Kazakhstan ($X) and Tajikistan ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 87% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, which together accounted for a further 11%.

Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +40.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 14% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 25%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.
