For the seventh consecutive year, the CIS recorded growth in shipments abroad of check valves for pipes, boiler shells, tanks and vats, which increased by 16% to X units in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 72%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, check valve exports expanded to $X in 2021. In general, exports showed a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 56% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Russia (X units) represented the main exporter of check valves for pipes, boiler shells, tanks and vats, committing 65% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X units), constituting a 32% share of total exports. Kazakhstan (X units) held a minor share of total exports.
Exports from Russia increased at an average annual rate of +20.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Belarus (+32.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +32.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-2.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Belarus (+18 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -11.9% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest check valve supplier in the CIS, comprising 81% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a 15% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia amounted to +11.7%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belarus (+9.7% per year) and Kazakhstan (-0.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -11.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a abrupt setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the export price increased by 38% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+2.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of check valves for pipes, boiler shells, tanks and vats increased by 51% to X units, rising for the fifth consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, imports saw a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 66%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, check valve imports totaled $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +48.8% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Russia dominates imports structure, recording X units, which was approx. 84% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X units) and Belarus (X units), together comprising a 10% share of total imports. Kazakhstan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into Russia increased at an average annual rate of +16.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+104.5%) and Belarus (+8.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +104.5% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-4.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Russia (+21 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+5.4 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Belarus and Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -2.2% and -13.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported check valves for pipes, boiler shells, tanks and vats in the CIS, comprising 75% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 9% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 5.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia stood at +4.1%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (-4.6% per year) and Belarus (+0.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2021, declining by -33% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 6.9%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per unit), while Uzbekistan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
