Exports in CIS
In 2022, approx. X tons of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres were exported in the CIS; with an increase of 2.9% compared with 2021. The biggest shipments were from Belarus (X tons), Uzbekistan (X tons) and Russia (X tons), together finishing at 93% of total export. It was distantly followed by Armenia (X tons), achieving a 5.6% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Belarus (with a CAGR of +69.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibre supplying countries in the CIS were Uzbekistan ($X), Russia ($X) and Belarus ($X), together comprising 76% of total exports.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Belarus, with a CAGR of +27.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 2.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, faced a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 83% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Armenia ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (-10.5%).

Imports in CIS
In 2022, supplies from abroad of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres increased by 2.3% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports recorded a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 74%. Over the period under review, imports of attained the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, imports of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres surged to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 64% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Azerbaijan (X tons) and Russia (X tons) represented the main importers of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres in 2022, amounting to approx. 34% and 31% of total imports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons), together comprising a 32% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Belarus (with a CAGR of +79.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Azerbaijan ($X), Russia ($X) and Belarus ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 84% share of total imports.
In terms of the main importing countries, Azerbaijan, with a CAGR of +73.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 13% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Azerbaijan ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Azerbaijan (+5.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
