In 2022, color printing ink exports in the CIS surged to X tons, rising by 15% against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, exports showed a notable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, color printing ink exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, exports posted prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 26%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Belarus was the key exporting country with an export of around X tons, which finished at 64% of total exports. Russia (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons). All these countries together held near 32% share of total exports. Kazakhstan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to color printing ink exports from Belarus stood at +1.5%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+177.0%), Kazakhstan (+37.1%) and Russia (+12.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +177.0% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Uzbekistan, Russia and Kazakhstan increased by +11, +11 and +3.3 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Belarus ($X) remains the largest color printing ink supplier in the CIS, comprising 52% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Russia ($X), with a 25% share of total exports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 12% share.

In Belarus, color printing ink exports expanded at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Russia (+11.7% per year) and Kazakhstan (+52.8% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 6.8% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 33%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+17.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Color printing ink imports rose to X tons in 2022, increasing by 3.2% compared with 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 16%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, color printing ink imports rose rapidly to $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a slight increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 21%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Imports by Country

Russia represented the major importing country with an import of around X tons, which resulted at 64% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), generating a 23% share of total imports. Kazakhstan (X tons), Uzbekistan (X tons) and Azerbaijan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to color printing ink imports into Russia stood at -1.2%. At the same time, Azerbaijan (+21.1%), Kazakhstan (+8.4%), Belarus (+3.9%) and Uzbekistan (+2.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +21.1% from 2012-2022. Belarus (+6 p.p.), Uzbekistan (+3.9 p.p.), Kazakhstan (+2.2 p.p.) and Azerbaijan (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Russia saw its share reduced by -14.9% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported color printing ink in the CIS, comprising 67% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 7.1% share.

In Russia, color printing ink imports declined by an average annual rate of -1.2% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Belarus (+3.2% per year) and Kazakhstan (+8.7% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, rising by 3.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 11% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Azerbaijan (+8.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
