For the fifth consecutive year, the CIS recorded growth in overseas shipments of concentrated orange juice, which increased by 49% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 92% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, concentrated orange juice exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports continue to indicate a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by 65% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

Russia (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) dominates exports structure, together making up 85% of total exports. Kazakhstan (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Kyrgyzstan (X tons). All these countries together held near 13% share of total exports. Moldova (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Belarus (with a CAGR of +45.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest concentrated orange juice supplier in the CIS, comprising 57% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a 28% share of total exports. It was followed by Kyrgyzstan, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia amounted to +5.1%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belarus (+41.1% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (+40.4% per year).

In 2021, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -14.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a noticeable shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the export price increased by 28%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton), while Moldova ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, purchases abroad of concentrated orange juice increased by 18% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after six years of decline. Overall, imports posted a perceptible increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 303%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, concentrated orange juice imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a mild expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 365% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Russia dominates imports structure, amounting to X tons, which was near 88% of total imports in 2021. Kazakhstan (X tons), Belarus (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into Russia increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+28.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +28.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-2.8%) and Belarus (-3.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Russia (+3.8 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Kazakhstan (-2.5 p.p.) and Belarus (-2.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported concentrated orange juice in the CIS, comprising 89% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 4.4% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 3.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia totaled +2.7%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (-3.3% per year) and Belarus (-7.0% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2021, remaining constant against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 15%.
