Exports by Country

In 2021, Uzbekistan (X tons) represented the key exporter of copper tubes and pipes, making up 84% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Russia (X tons), generating a 13% share of total exports. Belarus (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.

Uzbekistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the copper tubes and pipes exports, with a CAGR of +110.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Belarus (+16.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Russia (-5.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) remains the largest copper tube and pipe supplier in the CIS, comprising 83% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Russia ($X), with a 14% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Uzbekistan amounted to +120.8%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Russia (-3.7% per year) and Belarus (+16.1% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 64% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+4.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in CIS

Copper tube and pipe imports rose to X tons in 2021, with an increase of 4.5% compared with 2020. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 18%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, copper tube and pipe imports soared to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Russia dominates imports structure, accounting for X tons, which was approx. 79% of total imports in 2021. Belarus (X tons) took a 7.6% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Kazakhstan (7.5%). Azerbaijan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of copper tubes and pipes. At the same time, Azerbaijan (+20.7%) and Kazakhstan (+2.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +20.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Belarus (-4.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Azerbaijan increased by +2.2 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported copper tubes and pipes in the CIS, comprising 78% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with an 8.2% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 7.7% share.
