The level of production peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.

Cranks and crankshafts exports declined slightly to X tons in 2022, standing approx. at the previous year. Over the period under review, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 29%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, cranks and crankshafts exports shrank slightly to $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 61%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Russia (X tons) was the main exporter of cranks and crankshafts, comprising 52% of total exports. Belarus (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 31% share, followed by Kazakhstan (14%). Armenia (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Kazakhstan (with a CAGR of +9.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest cranks and crankshafts supplier in the CIS, comprising 63% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 28% share of total exports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 7.1% share.
In Russia, cranks and crankshafts exports decreased by an average annual rate of -2.9% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belarus (+2.8% per year) and Kazakhstan (+8.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, approximately mirroring the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the export price increased by 44%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Armenia (+5.9%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in CIS
In 2022, overseas purchases of cranks and crankshafts increased by 5.9% to X tons, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, imports posted a tangible increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 111% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, cranks and crankshafts imports stood at $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +27.2% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 73% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Russia represented the main importing country with an import of around X tons, which finished at 66% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), Belarus (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons), together achieving a 30% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to cranks and crankshafts imports into Russia stood at +2.4%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+20.8%) and Kazakhstan (+6.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +20.8% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Belarus (-1.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Uzbekistan (+7.2 p.p.) and Kazakhstan (+4.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Belarus and Russia saw its share reduced by -5.4% and -7.7% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported cranks and crankshafts in the CIS, comprising 66% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with an 8% share.
In Russia, cranks and crankshafts imports expanded at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (+7.1% per year) and Uzbekistan (+17.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, standing approx. at the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2021, and then dropped modestly in the following year.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Uzbekistan ($X per ton) and Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) and Russia ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
