In 2022, overseas purchases of cranks and crankshafts increased by 5.9% to X tons, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, imports posted a tangible increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 111% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, cranks and crankshafts imports stood at $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +27.2% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 73% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Russia represented the main importing country with an import of around X tons, which finished at 66% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), Belarus (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons), together achieving a 30% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to cranks and crankshafts imports into Russia stood at +2.4%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+20.8%) and Kazakhstan (+6.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +20.8% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Belarus (-1.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period.
