Exports by Country
Uzbekistan (X tons) and Russia (X tons) dominates exports structure, together creating 94% of total exports. Armenia (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +20.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
In value terms, the largest marble and travertine crude supplying countries in the CIS were Uzbekistan ($X), Russia ($X) and Armenia ($X), together accounting for 95% of total exports.
Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +21.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, falling by -18.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, posted pronounced growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the export price increased by 99%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Armenia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+5.3%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in CIS
After two years of growth, overseas purchases of marble and travertine decreased by -1% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 79% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of crude imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, marble and travertine crude imports plummeted to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a deep slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 56%. Over the period under review, crude imports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Kazakhstan (X tons) was the major importer of marble and travertine, achieving 53% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), Uzbekistan (X tons) and Armenia (X tons), together generating a 35% share of total imports. Azerbaijan (X tons), Moldova (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.
Imports into Kazakhstan decreased at an average annual rate of -17.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+122.5%), Armenia (+9.2%), Kyrgyzstan (+6.5%) and Moldova (+1.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +122.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Belarus (-12.4%) and Azerbaijan (-19.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Uzbekistan, Armenia, Moldova, Belarus and Kyrgyzstan increased by +10, +8.1, +4, +3 and +2.2 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, the largest marble and travertine crude importing markets in the CIS were Kazakhstan ($X), Armenia ($X) and Belarus ($X), with a combined 74% share of total imports. Moldova, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 15%.
Among the main importing countries, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +69.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, declining by -26.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 44%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then declined markedly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Armenia ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+3.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
