Butter and dairy spreads exports amounted to X tons in 2022, remaining constant against the year before. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, butter and dairy spreads exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +40.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 28%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Belarus prevails in exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was approx. 83% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X tons), mixing up a 4.7% share of total exports. The following exporters - Russia (X tons), Kazakhstan (X tons) and Armenia (X tons) - together made up 11% of total exports.

Belarus experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of butter and dairy spreads. At the same time, Armenia (+62.9%), Kazakhstan (+43.7%) and Kyrgyzstan (+18.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Armenia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +62.9% from 2012-2022. Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Armenia increased by +3.7, +3.6 and +2.9 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Belarus ($X) remains the largest butter and dairy spreads supplier in the CIS, comprising 86% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 4.3% share of total exports. It was followed by Armenia, with a 2.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Belarus totaled +5.3%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+48.6% per year) and Armenia (+62.8% per year).

Export price indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the export price increased by 44% against the previous year. Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of butter and dairy spreads. At the same time, Moldova (+18.2%) and Azerbaijan (+11.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Moldova emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +18.2% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Armenia (-2.0%) and Kazakhstan (-3.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Azerbaijan (+6.8 p.p.) and Moldova (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Kazakhstan and Russia saw its share reduced by -2.9% and -5.1% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported butter and dairy spreads in the CIS, comprising 74% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Azerbaijan ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 5.2% share.
