The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 70% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, double or complex silicates imports rose significantly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a prominent increase. The following importers - Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Azerbaijan (X tons) - each resulted at a 3.7% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to double or complex silicates imports into Russia stood at -5.4%. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+38.2%) and Uzbekistan (+12.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kyrgyzstan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +38.2% from 2012-2021. Belarus experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Azerbaijan (-2.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Uzbekistan (+17 p.p.) and Kyrgyzstan (+1.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Russia saw its share reduced by -19.1% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported double or complex silicates in the CIS, comprising 71% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 4.8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia amounted to +3.3%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (+16.1% per year) and Belarus (+5.5% per year).

The import price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 16% against the previous year. Import price indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +9.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, double or complex silicates import price increased by +110.7% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the import price increased by 52%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Azerbaijan ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Azerbaijan (+16.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
