For the fourth consecutive year, the CIS recorded growth in overseas shipments of dried, undried and frozen pasta and pasta products, which increased by 5% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 78%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, pasta products exports rose remarkably to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +88.5% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 37%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Russia represented the largest exporter of dried, undried and frozen pasta and pasta products in the CIS, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was near 58% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), mixing up a 34% share of total exports. The following exporters - Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) - together made up 5.7% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Belarus (with a CAGR of +22.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest pasta products supplying countries in the CIS were Russia ($X), Kazakhstan ($X) and Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a combined 97% share of total exports.
Among the main exporting countries, Kyrgyzstan, with a CAGR of +29.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 4.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kyrgyzstan (+9.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

In 2022, the amount of dried, undried and frozen pasta and pasta products imported in the CIS expanded significantly to X tons, picking up by 6.1% on the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 36%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, pasta products imports reached $X in 2022. Total imports indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +33.6% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 46% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Russia (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons) represented the key importers of dried, undried and frozen pasta and pasta products in 2022, finishing at approx. 25% and 23% of total imports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Tajikistan (X tons), Uzbekistan (X tons), Armenia (X tons) and Belarus (X tons), together generating a 42% share of total imports. Kyrgyzstan (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +19.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X), Russia ($X) and Uzbekistan ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 64% share of total imports.
Among the main importing countries, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +28.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 2.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a slight shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while Armenia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+7.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
