The CIS egg product market rose to $X in 2021, increasing by 2.7% against the previous year. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2019; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.

In value terms, egg product production amounted to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the production volume increased by 17%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2019; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.

In 2021, overseas shipments of egg products decreased by -15.1% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after four years of growth. In general, exports, however, saw significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 312%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, egg product exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 117%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Belarus (X tons) represented the major exporter of egg products, making up 60% of total exports. Russia (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 40% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Kazakhstan (with a CAGR of +34.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Russia ($X), Belarus ($X) and Kazakhstan ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together comprising 100% of total exports.
Kazakhstan, with a CAGR of +27.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 65% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a mild contraction. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+1.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.
Egg Product Imports
Imports in CIS
In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of egg products, when their volume decreased by -9.8% to X tons. In general, imports, however, saw a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 87%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2020, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, egg product imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, posted a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 88%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
Russia dominates imports structure, recording X tons, which was approx. 81% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), achieving a 9.8% share of total imports. The following importers - Kazakhstan (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons) - each accounted for a 6.4% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to egg product imports into Russia stood at +16.0%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+260.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +260.3% from 2012-2021. Kazakhstan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Belarus (-2.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Russia (+25 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Kazakhstan and Belarus saw its share reduced by -4.8% and -23.2% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported egg products in the CIS, comprising 73% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 4.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia amounted to +11.0%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belarus (+1.1% per year) and Uzbekistan (+241.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, rising by 32% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible curtailment. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+3.9%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
