The CIS machinery electrical parts market declined modestly to $X in 2022, remaining stable against the previous year. The total consumption indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, consumption decreased by -18.0% against 2019 indices. In value terms, machinery electrical parts production reduced slightly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. The total production indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production decreased by -1.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production reached the peak level at $X in 2019; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.

Exports in CIS

In 2022, shipments abroad of electrical parts of machinery or apparatus decreased by -33.8% to X tons, falling for the third consecutive year after four years of growth. In general, exports, however, showed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by 407%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, machinery electrical parts exports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 619%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Moldova prevails in exports structure, accounting for X tons, which was near 77% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), Uzbekistan (X tons) and Russia (X tons), together comprising a 21% share of total exports. Azerbaijan (X kg) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Moldova increased at an average annual rate of +35.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Belarus (+39.6%), Uzbekistan (+37.1%), Azerbaijan (+32.8%) and Russia (+20.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +39.6% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Moldova and Belarus increased by +9 and +3.2 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X), Russia ($X) and Moldova ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together comprising 93% of total exports.

Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +57.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 86% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a abrupt contraction. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while Moldova ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+14.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in CIS

In 2022, imports of electrical parts of machinery or apparatus in the CIS reduced to X tons, waning by -12.4% against the year before. Overall, imports, however, showed modest growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 53% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, machinery electrical parts imports declined to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, posted a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

Imports by Country

Russia was the key importing country with an import of about X tons, which reached 84% of total imports. Uzbekistan (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 10% share, followed by Belarus (5.6%).

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to machinery electrical parts imports into Russia stood at +18.0%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+158.4%) and Belarus (+23.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +158.4% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Russia, Uzbekistan and Belarus increased by +66, +10 and +4.8 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported electrical parts of machinery or apparatus in the CIS, comprising 90% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 5.3% share of total imports.

In Russia, machinery electrical parts imports expanded at an average annual rate of +25.6% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Uzbekistan (+126.6% per year) and Belarus (+4.6% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, declining by -1.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the import price increased by 60% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2021, and then contracted slightly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+6.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
